Inspirational Portrait Drawings by
Studio Art Students fall 2014

Studio Art A introduces students to the Elements of Art and Principles of Design while developing drawing skills and painting techniques. Studio experiences in the classroom will give students opportunities to experience a variety of media (pencil, pen, ink, charcoal, pastel, watercolor, and acrylic paint) while developing student’s individual style and creative problem solving skills. Students will also explore materials in their Visual Journal while they work on in class assignments.  Projects that are assigned meet NYS Learning Standards for the Arts and Common Core Standards.

Studio Art B moves onto Printmaking processes and ends with three-dimensional work such as Sculpture and Ceramics.  Students will be briefly introduced to Art using Computers and Technology as well as Photography.  During this second half of the year Students will demonstrate their ability to respond, to analyze and to interpret their own artwork and the work of others through discussions, critiques, and writings. Students will continue to explore different materials and topics in their Visual Journal.
